Obituaries

Van Richard Lechman, of rural Deerfield, passed away Sunday, November 29. The retired Southwestern Bell/AT&T employee was 69. Arrangements are under direction Ferry Funeral Home and services are scheduled at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 4, at the First Baptist Church, Nevada, with Dr. Kevin Daugherty officiating. Burial is planned in the Deerfield Cemetery. The family asks those planning to attend to follow safety procedures such as social distancing and wearing facemasks.

Dustin Lee Conner, Nevada, passed away Saturday, November 28, at Nevada Regional Medical Center. The Sheldon High School graduate and ADM employee was 48. Services are scheduled at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 2, at Ferry Funeral Home with Brian Bunton officiating and burial is to follow in the Sheldon Cemetery. The family receives friends between six and eight o'clock Tuesday evening, December 1, at Ferry Funeral Home. Memorials to a fund for the family are suggested.

Matthew S. McIntosh passed away Sunday, November 22, at Caney, Ks. He was 42. A memorial service is scheduled at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 5, at Ferry Funeral Home and facemasks are required. Burial is planned -- weather permitting -- in St. James Cemetery at Milford, Mo.

Jackie Jo Spurgeon, El Dorado Springs, passed away Sunday, November 29. She was 44. A memorial service is scheduled at two o'clock Saturday afternoon, December 5, at the Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home. The family receives friends between six and seven o'clock Friday evening, December 4, at Bland-Hackland Funeral Home.

Cheryl Jean Strickland, Nevada, passed away Tuesday, November 24, at the Appleton City Manor. The Coffeyville, Ks. native and former employee at the Nevada State Hospital and at 3M was 73. Arrangements are under direction of Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, and no services are planned.

Linda Jane "Janie" Thomas, Nevada, passed away Sunday, November 22, at her home. The 1969 Walker High School graduate was 69. Arrangements were under direction of Ferry Funeral Home and a graveside service was held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, November 27, in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Nevada, with Father Peter Savidge officiating. Memorials to a Nevada Special Athletes fund were suggested and can be made in care of Ferry Funeral Home.

Vern Eugene Spencer, Nevada, passed away Saturday, November 21, at Cox Medical Center-South, Springfield. The former employee at 3M, Nevada Regional Medical Center and the Nevada Police Department was 74. Arrangements were under direction of Ferry Funeral Home and a graveside service was held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 25, in the Click Cemetery, Nevada, with Brother Jerry Pyle officiating. Memorials to the Click Cemetery Association were suggested.

Carol Lee Claspill, Nevada, passed away Friday, November 20. The 1962 El Dorado Springs High School graduate and former flagman at the Nevada Speedway was 76. Arrangements are under direction of Ferry Funeral Home and a celebration of his life is to be scheduled next Spring. Memorials to St. Jude's Children's Hospital are suggested and can be made in care of Ferry Funeral Home.

Alvin Mathews Ruddick, Fort Scott, passed away Monday, November 23, at Cox-Barton County Hospital, Lamar. The former owner of Ruddick's Furniture, Fort Scott, was 87. Arrangements are under direction of the Cheney-Witt Chapel, Fort Scott, and a private service was planned with burial to follow in the National Cemetery at Fort Scott. Memorials to the Fort Scott United Methodist Chirch were suggested.

Deborah Lynn Killingsworth, Webb City, Mo., passed away Saturday, November 21, at Freeman-West Hospital, Joplin. The Greenfield, Mo. native was 70. Arrangements were under direction of the Greenfield, Mo. Funeral Chapel and a graveside service was held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, November 27, in the Greenfield, Mo. Cemetery.

Ivan Lynn Long, Lamar, passed away Saturday, November 21, at his home. The Navy veteran and heavy machine operator was 87. Arrangements are under direction of the Daniel Funeral Home, Lamar, and a graveside service was held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 25, in the Memory Gardens Cemetery, Lamar. Memorials to the Family Life Building Fund at the Lamar First Christian Church were suggested.

Michael Wayne Berry, Lockwood, passed away Friday, November 20, at Mercy Hospital, Springfield. The Dade County native was 63. Arrangements are under direction of the Konantz Warden Funeral Home, Lamar, and a graveside service was held at two o'clock Wednesday afternoon, November 25, in the Lockwood Cemetery. Memorials to the activities fund at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Lockwood were suggested.

Mary Donna (Sawyer) Wisner, El Dorado Springs, passed away Saturday, November 21, at the hospital in Bolivar. The 1976 graduate of El Dorado Springs High School was 62. Arrangements were under direction of the Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home, El Dorado Springs, and a graveside service was held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 27, in the Shady Grove Cemetery near Fair Play, Mo.

Susan Diane Jones passed away Friday, November 20, at the hospital in Clinton, Mo. The Pittsburg, Ks. native and Appleton City, Mo. High School graduate was 68. Arrangements are under direction of the Hill & Son Funeral Home, Appleton City, and a graveside service was held at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 25, in the Shiloh Cemetery near Liberal, Mo.
