Obituaries

Wanda Sue (Crane) Gusman, Nevada, passed away Monday, July 26, at Freeman Hospital, Joplin. The 1979 Nevada High School graduate was 59. Arrangements are under direction of Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, and a graveside service is planned for family and friends at Greenlawn Cemetery, Columbus, Ks.

Trudy Snead passed away Wednesday, July 28, at Nevada Regional Medical Center. The 1985 Nevada High School graduate was 54. Funeral services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 31, at Ferry Funeral Home with the Reverend Roger Todd officiating and burial's to follow in the Moore Cemetery. The family receives friends between five and seven o'clock Friday evening, July 30, at Ferry Funeral Home.

Winston Lee Baucom, formerly Nevada, passed away Sunday, January 17, in Cameron. The 1941 Nevada High School graduate was 98. Visitation is planned from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 31, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, and interment will follow in Newton Burial Park, Nevada. Memorials to the American Diabetes Association are suggested and can be made in care of Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.

James Allen Johnson, Pleasanton, Ks. and formerly Fort Scott, passed away Saturday, July 24, at the K.U. Medical Center, Kansas City, Ks. The former teacher was 72. Arrangements are under direction of the Cheney-Witt Chapel, Fort Scott, and services are planned at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 30, at the Elsmore, Ks. United Methodist Church with the Reverend Kevin Moyers and Pastor Ralph Peters officiating. Burial's scheduled in the Elsmore Cemetery. The family received friends between five and seven o'clock Thuirsday evening, July 29, at the Cheney-Witt Chapel. Memorials to the Elmore United Methodist Church are suggested.

Ronald Wayne Redford, Butler, passed away Tuesday, July 27, as the result of a motor vehicle accident. The Appleton City native was 61. Services are scheduled at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 2, at the Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel, Butler, with burial to follow in the Radford Cemetery, Spruce, Mo. Visitation's planned at 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 2, at the Schowengerdt Chapel. Memorials to a fund for the family are suggested.

Diana Lee Ewing, Butler, passed away Tuesday, July 27, at Research Medical Center, Kansas City, Mo. She was 65. Services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 31st, at the Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel, Butler, with burial to follow in Butler's Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation's planned between five and seven o'clock Friday evening, July 30, at the Schowengerdt Chapel. Memorials to an education fund for her grandchildren are suggested.

Cody Grant Decker, the nine-day-old son of Ryan and Anita Decker, passed away Friday, July 23, at Nevada Regional Medical Center. Arrangements were under direction of Ferry Funeral Home and services were held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, July 26, at the Living Faith Mennonite Church, Walker, and burial followed in the Living Faith Mennonite Cemetery. The family received friends at two-thirty Monday afternoon, July 26, at the church.

William Roy "Bill" Modlin, Nevada, passed away Tuesday, July 20, at the V.A. Medical Center in Kansas City, Mo. He was 59. Services were held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 26, at Ferry Funeral Home with Pastor Terry Mosher officiating. Burial followrf at 12:30 p.m. Monday, July 26, in the National Cemetery at Fort Scott. Visitation was held at ten o'clock Monday morning, July 26, at Ferry Funeral Home and memorials to a fund for the family were suggested.

Roy Parkison, Jr., Harwood, passed away Friday, July 23, at the Nevada Medicalodge. He was 84. Services were held at  2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 25, at Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home, El Dorado Springs, and burial followed in the Harwood Cemetery. Visitation preceded the services at the funeral home.

Anthony Louis "Tony" Van Dyke passed away Tuesday, July 20, at the age of 66. Arrangements are under direction of the Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home, El Dorado Springs, and a memorial service is scheduled at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 1, at the Schell City Community Building. Memorials either to the El Dorado Springs Fire Department or the Schell City Rural Volunteer Fire Department are suggested adn can be made in care to Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.

Anita E. Noel, Lamar, passed away Wednesday, July 21, in Joplin. She was 89. Arrangements were under direction of Daniel Funeral Home, Lamar, and services were held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 28, at the Lamar United Methodist Church and burial followed at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 28, in the West Fork, Arkansas Cemetery. Visitation was held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 28, at the United Methodist Church in Lamar.

James W. "Jim" Littell passed away Thursday, July 8, in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was 66. Services took place at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 14, at Sheldon-Goodrich Funeral Home, Osceola, and burial took place in the Newton Burial Park, Nevada.

Evan Dante Simpson passed away Wednesday, July 14, at his home in Leavenworth, Ks. He was 33. A memorial service was held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 20 at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.

Elizabeth Suzanne "Betsy" Herron, Lamar, passed away Friday, July 16. The real estate agent was 66. Arrangements were under direction of Daniel Funeral Home, Lamar, and a graveside service was held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 21, in the Oakton Cemetery. Memorials to the Lamar First Assembly Building Fund were suggested.

Dennis Lee Smith, Compton Junction, Mo., passed away Tuesday, July 13, at the K.U. Medical Center in Kansas City, Ks. He was 72. Arrangements are under direction of Ferry Funeral Home and service plans are to be announced later.

Mark Edmond Williams, Nevada, passed away Thursday, July 15, at the age of 66. Arrangements are under direction of Ferry Funeral Home and plans for a memorial service are to be announced later.

Nora Ann Rowan passed away Sunday, July 18, just a few days fore her 75th birthday. Arrangements are under direction of the Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home Funeral Home, El Dorado Springs, and service plans are to be announced later.
