Obituaries

Susan Gilkey, Rich Hill, passed away Wednesday, July 19, at her home at the age of 58. Arrangements are under direction of the Heuser Funeral Home, Rich Hill, and a memorial service is scheduled at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 29, at the Myrtle Tree Fellowship Church in Rich Hill. Memorials to a Susan Gilkey Fund are suggested and can be made in care of the Heuser Funeral Home.

Sidney Shelton Jones, Stockton, passed away Saturday, July 22, at his home. The retired MoDot employee was 87. Arrangements are under direction of the Bland-Brumback Funeral Home, Stockton, and a graveside service is scheduled at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 26, in the Stockton Cemetery. The family receives friends between six and seven o'clock Tuesday evening, July 25, at the funeral home. Memorials either to the Show-Me Christian Youth Home or St. Jude's Hospital for Children are suggested and can be made in care of the Bland-Brumback Funeral Home.

William R. Evans, Stockton, Mo. and formerly Kansas City, Ks., passed away Saturday, July 22, at the age of 75. Arrangements are under direction of the Bland-Brumback Funeral Home, Stockton, and no services are planned.

Jewell Huckaby, Highland's Ranch, Colorado, passed away Sunday, July 16. The native of Nevada, Mo. and music teacher was 89. A memorial service is scheduled at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 5, at the Evergreen, Colorado Christian Church. Memorials to the church are suggested.

C.L. "Pete" Peterson, Fort Scott, passed away Friday, July 14, as the result of a motor vehicle accident in New Mexico. He was 75. Arrangements are to be under direction of Cheney-Witt Chapel, Fort Scott, and service plans are to be announced later.

Vivian Ann Weil, of Nevada, passed away Saturday, July 15 at Morningside of Nevada Assisted Living at the age of 93. Arrangements are under the direction of Ferry Funeral Home and a celebration of life service for Ann Weil is to be scheduled later. Contributions to the American Cancer Society or Heartland Hospice of Butler are suggested.

Cheryl Ann (Somers) Milano, Lincoln, Nebraska, passed away Monday, July 3, at the age of 59. She earned her Practical Nursing degree at Nevada Regional Technical Center in 1986. A memorial service is scheduled August 12 at the Piedmont Park 7th Day Adventist Church in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Veteran newspaper journalist Tom Eblen passed away June 10 at Brighton Gardens of Prairie Village, Ks. The former Kansas City Star and Fort Scott Tribune editor was 80. A celebration of his life is scheduled between 1:00 and 4:00 p.m. Sunday, August 6, at Union Station's Spirit Festival Plaza in Kansas City. Memorials either to the Kansas Press Association's Newspaper Foundation, the University of Kansas Endowment Association, the K.U. Endacott Society or the William Allen White documentary film project are suggested.
